Dell Latitude 7480 Business Laptop Full Spec
When choosing a laptop, one of the things that are often considered by mobile workers is the long battery life and compact form but still capable to support the work. If you consider these two factors when choosing a laptop, the Dell Latitude 7480 must be on your radar!
This laptop is touted as the "Thinkpad Killer" because, in all aspects, this laptop seems to challenge the Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad line that had already been established as the first choice of business class.

Call it the design that uses aluminum-coated carbon fiber so it is very light, as if the antithesis of old Dell laptops are often heavy though tough, clear screen, reliable security system, chiclet keyboard which has long been a favorite of typists, and also battery life outstanding!
With a price range of USD 820 for its new device, it's clear that this is a challenge for the Thinkpad line which is also in the same range with the same spec. Intrigued by its performance? Here are my impressions after two weeks using this premium (which is still affordable) business laptop.

Design and Quality Dell Latitude 7480 Business Laptop
Dell Latitude 7480 uses carbon fiber-coated aluminum base material which makes it lightweight. The price to be paid by the selection of this material for is, this laptop does not seem luxurious or shining, but of course, guaranteed to be very sturdy!
Dell is famous as a manufacturer with good build quality, so you don't need to doubt the toughness of this laptop. The hinges are also very sturdy and flexible when opened. Anyway, this laptop screen can be opened up to 180 degrees to provide a typing angle to suit your preferences.
Display
The Dell Latitude 4780 has a full HD display panel covered with glossy material, so it doesn't reflect sunlight or shade in front of the screen. The panel is made by LG with the code LG LGD0557 (LP140WF7), using an IPS screen system with 1920 x 1080 resolution.
I am very impressed with the brightness and sharpness settings of this panel. Maximum brightness doesn't make it eye-wrenching, and even though I'm in a room with sunlight coming in (for example in an open-concept coffee shop), the brightness needed is only half of its maximum capacity.

Even under direct sunlight (from the top of the head), you can still easily see the screen. Really first class. The viewing angle on the screen of this device is also very good. You will not see the color difference from whatever angle you look at it.
Keyboard and Touchpad
In addition to Lenovo / IBM, Dell is also one of the companies recognized for its ability to create comfortable keyboard and touchpad schemes. I really like the keyboard layout options on this laptop.
The placement of the button is familiar in my hand making it easier for me to type. The keyboard key scheme is a soft chiclet when pressed and provides good tactile feedback at the fingertips. The keyboard is also supported by backlit which makes it easy for you to search for certain keys in a dark atmosphere.
The Dell Latitude 7480 touchpad is quite large, responsive, precise, and can run all Windows 10 gestures properly. What I am not suitable for is, this touchpad has five buttons! In the default version, the functions of the up and down buttons are similar, but actually, we are free to set the touchpad's own button functions if we want to add them.
The experience of using the Dell Latitude 7480 touchpad is quite good although, in my opinion, it is still a level below the average Macbook.
Port and Audio
As can be expected from Dell, this laptop has a good choice of ports and slots, making it easy for us to use any peripherals if we want. On the left, there is a power port, USB type-C (Now, this is very fun because it means we can add high-quality dongles to this laptop), HDMI, and two USB 3.0, then Smart Card Reader.

On the right-hand side, there are audio ports, U-SD (for SD cards) and U-SIM (for SIM cards), USB 3.0, RJ45, and Nobel Wedge lock.
I know you must be curious whether this laptop can be entered by a SIM card, unfortunately, the answer is no. The SIM for this laptop is a special SIM that can only be used in the US. But who knows if there is a change in policy in Indonesia, then this slot can be useful.
The Dell Latitude 7480 speaker is located at the bottom front. The speaker sound is quite loud and clear, but it is no match for its 'siblings', the Dell 7447 Pandora which does have exceptional audio. But I was very impressed when plugging the headphone jack into this device. The sound is very clear and pleasant, as befits a premium laptop!
Camera
The webcam on this laptop is normal. Great if used in bright places, but immediately shows a lot of noise when light is lacking. Compared to Surface Pro 3, the difference in quality looks real.
Actually, this laptop includes an IR Camera which makes it possible to use Windows Hello. But it's a pity that somehow this system doesn't work when I test it. So instead, I use the Fingerprint reader security system that reads well in Windows 10.
Function and Battery Life
Intel Core i5 6200U Skylake CPU is said to be one of Intel's energy-efficient processors that features energy-efficient ULV (ultra-low voltage). Combined with a 60Wh battery, this laptop has a great battery life.
This laptop consistently gives me time in the range of 7-10 hours for normal use! Even in tough working conditions, I can still get 5 hours. This is one of the reasons why at the beginning I mentioned that this laptop would be very suitable for users who are often mobile or spend a lot of time on the road.
Conclusion? The best business laptop by price and value ratio
If you need a Windows laptop for work, then I won't hesitate to recommend this laptop. In terms of price configuration, the Latitude 7480 is cheaper than the Dell XPS 13, which was released in the same year, but in terms of value.

I think this laptop has more value! Besides being lightweight (to be carried everywhere) and qualified for use in a variety of computing, the Dell Latitude 7480 has optimal battery power which is definitely useful if you are in a mobile work situation. Good build quality is also a guarantee that you will use this laptop for a long time.
Maybe one of the weaknesses is that it doesn't look fancy like the XPS series. If the XPS series is a Ferrari for Windows users, then the Latitude series is a Cherokee Jeep that looks solid (a little seedy), but it takes you to any terrain.
